From ice skating and skiing to relaxation at the spa

Hot winter
Even in the cold season you can work up a good sweat in Vienna – be it on skis or while relaxing afterwards.
Skiers and snowboarders need not leave the city to glide down snow-covered hills. While Dollwiese relies on natural snow, the ski slope on Hohe-Wand-Wiese has a snowmaking system and does not depend on Mother Nature alone. Floodlighting allows skiers to engage in their favourite pastime even after dusk. Those who prefer cross-country skiing can choose from various trails in the city, for beginners as well as for more advanced skiers. The 12-km trail on the Danube Island and the Steinhof trail with several steep inclines are the most popular trails in Vienna.
Trekking through the snow
Snowshoe trekking is a new trend somewhere between a winter walk and ski touring. You climb up snow-covered mountains on oversized soles that prevent you from sinking in and then elegantly glide down the slopes on powder snow. The mountains near Vienna are a veritable paradise for these winter sports. Many hills in Vienna’s parks are turned into tobogganing slopes in winter. Thanks to snowmaking equipment Jesuitenwiese in the Prater guarantees great tobogganing fun as soon as it is cold enough.
In all weathers
With its various saunas, whirlpools and indoor and outdoor pools the Oberlaa thermal spa is just the right place to relax after a day in the snow. With a constant temperature of 29 degrees, palm trees and attractions like a spectacular slide, a wave pool and a pirate ship, the centrally located Dianabad pool is ideal for an exciting day of water fun for the entire family.Things can get pretty hot in the ice rink, too – skaters at the Vienna Ice Dream on Rathausplatz are sure to get sweating when DJs play great tracks to dance to on two blades.
