Young Viennese Architects (YO.V.A.)
Initiated in the 2005 Architecture Year, this platform for young Viennese architects presents innovative concepts. The YO.V.A. exhibition is currently touring Southern Europe.
Vienna has a very lively, diverse and critical young architecture scene. This may also be due to the fact that you can study architecture at three universities in Vienna: a highly attractive option that brings many young people from the rest of Austria as well as from the EU to the city.
An active scene
The YO.V.A. exhibition aims to serve as a platform for young architects to showcase innovative ideas, concepts and realised projects. Individuals and groups who form part of Vienna’s young, lively, urbane architecture scene were selected in a broad-based, open search for participants.

From Vienna to Europe
The “YO.V.A. – Young Viennese Architects” project was initiated by Rudi Schicker, Vienna City Councillor for Urban Planning, as part of the 2005 Architecture Year. The exhibition was presented for the first time during the REAL VIENNA real-estate trade fair at Messezentrum Wien in May 2006 before going on a tour of the Austrian provinces. The project is continued every other year and then travels through Europe.YO.V.A. 2 was presented in the neighbouring cities Brno and Bratislava at the end of 2008. In early 2009 the exhibition went on to Prague and then to Southern Europe.
Zagreb – Ljubljana
The exhibition opened in the Croatian Museum of Architecture in Zagreb at the end of March 2009.It is accompanied by expert discussions on “The Vienna Architecture Declaration” and “Building underground car parks in the city centre” and by a presentation of teams of architects at the Zagreb City Parliament. The exhibition on young architecture will be on show in Zagreb until 26 April and at the Ljubljana Museum of Architecture from 7 to 31 May. Select teams of architects from Vienna will also present themselves as part of a lecture given in the Slovenian capital.
