Kursalon Huebner

In 1867 a sanatorium in Italian Renaissance style was built on one side of the newly opened Stadtpark (City Gardens). Nobody would have thought then that the so-called Kursalon - originally a pump-room for water cures - would still be one of Vienna's attractions 140 years later.

A popular meeting place for the Viennese, the Kursalon soon became a venue for dances and concerts. Some of which were conducted by Johann Strauss, whose famous monument stands in front of the building. After an extensive refurbishment the Kursalon has now been positioned as a special venue for customised functions. Its four differently sized halls are ideally suited for galas, company anniversaries or private celebrations like lavish wedding parties.

The "Café Restaurant Johann" offers Viennese specialities from 5pm to midnight. Around 500 concerts are held at the Strauss and Lanner halls each year, attracting 200,000 music lovers from all over the world - among them stars like Rolling Stones legends Keith Richards and Ron Wood who took their wives to the Kursalon the day before the Stones concert in Vienna.

"Business as usual" also applies at the Kursalon over the Christmas holidays. More than 600 guests from Greece have already booked seats at the Christmas Eve gala, which includes a concert and a festive dinner of roasted duck breast, venison steak with chestnuts in port wine and filled baked apples. (A few seats are still available.)

On the last day of the year you can enjoy four Strauss and Mozart concerts and an exquisite gala buffet from 5.30pm. Or you can celebrate an unforgettable New Year's Night in the heart of Vienna and welcome the new year at the Kursalon with a concert, gala buffet and fireworks.
